Money Maths

Well done to Andre who found out who is on all the notes of the new zealand currency. Today we had to solve sums involving how to add money together. It is hard to remember to put the dollar sign in front and the decimal place. We found that there are not many places on the web to find out about NZ money, so if you know of any please could you post a link in the comments. We tried www.sorted.org but it was a bit hard.

  1. Nice work Andre! We like the money that you use in NZ, especially the $100 dollar note with Lord Ernest Rutherford. Our teacher (Mr. Mongardi) knows who Sir Edmund Hillary and the Queen are, but we don't really know the other people. Mr. Mongardi thinks that Sir Apirana Ngata is a Maori man, but he is not sure about that. Could you please tell us a little bit about who the other people are? We would like that. Here in Oman the Sultan is on almost all of the currency notes. Maybe we can send you a picture of all of our money. Thanks again!

  2. Hi I am Mariam from Muscat. I really liked your money work. Did you stick real money on the paper or pretend money? In Pakistan on our money there is a picture of a man who saved our country. His name was Caidai Azam.

  3. Hi my name is Youssef. Andre your work about money is very nice!!I go to the school in Muscat, Oman. Is the president on the money? Because here the sultan in Muscat is always on the money. but not on the coins. Did you glue the money or staple it?

  4. Hi,
Andre printed the money. The President is not on the money, but the Queen of England is because New Zealand is part of the Commonwealth which is ruled under England. Sir Apirana Ngata is a writer. Maybe you could research the people online?
