A while ago, Ms K set a challenge to get visitors from South America, South Africa, Greenland, Antarctica and Russia. If we succeed then the class will have a special reward. So far we have had visitors from Russia, South Africa and South America. That leaves Greenland and Antarctica. We will have to work out a way for people from these places to view our blog. Any suggestions are welcome? Ms K is going to contact the Antarctica centre in Christchurch to see if they know how to help us achieve our goal.

Race to Reading Challenge
Over the past term we have been participating in a Race to Reading challenge. We had to read a library book on top of our normal reading homework. The top three people won a prize and a certificate. Well done Harshil, Ben and Connor! Our boys love reading the most.

Yumbo Gumbo Soup
We have been reading the big book Yumbo Gumbo soup. On these cold winter days a bit of soup is always warming. We each brought a vegetable and ended up with kumara, potato, carrot, capsicum and onion. We put bay leaves, peppercorns, an oxo chicken stock cube, a packet of gravy and a can of tomatoes in too. We cooked it for five hours in a crock pot. It smelt yum and kept the learning zone warm. Then we all tried some. Some of us thought it was yummy and ate it all up and others of us did not like it.
Dragon sock puppets
Over the past week, our teacher has been working hard to prepare our sock puppets. She had to remember how to use a sewing machine and was very proud of her new learning! She cut the socks down the middle and added spikes. Then she had to hand sew on 22 buttons as eyes and also push in 20 teddybear eyes into the socks. Today we got to add glitter and patterns to our dragons before making up plays with them.
A magic purse
